You may be thinking about using an online service to store your files. Perhaps you have signed up with Box.com but are tired of having to open a web browser to transfer files. It would be nice if you could work with files much the same way you work with files stored on your hard drive.
It is possible. All you have to do is “map a network drive”.
1) Sign up for a Box.com account. As of 2012 there is a free version. You will need to provide an email address and create a password. They will send a confirmation email that you will need to respond to. Every time you sign in, you will use that email address as your user name. 2) Open “My Computer”. Left click “Tools” and select “Map Network Drive”
3) Pick a drive letter that you want to use for Box.com. In this example I used B: so that my Box.com files are on the B: drive. For the folder type http://www.box.net/dav/
4) Click on “connect using a different user name.”
For user name, use the email address you gave to Box.com The password is the same as when you log into Box.com using a web browser.

5) Click “OK” and then “Finish”. My computer will then show a new network drive called dav with the letter you chose.
6) You can now browse to files, click on them and use them much the same way you use local files with a few differences.
a) You may have to enable editing or enter your login information again for some programs.
b) The F5 key is handy to refresh the list of files.
c) The dates for each file copied to Box.com will be the date that the file was moved rather than the date the file was originally created or last modified.
d) The Total Size and Free Space values in “My Computer” will be wrong.
e) Files can’t be accessed using a browser at the same time you are using a file explorer to look at them.
